The much-anticipated First Watt
SIT/Static Induction Transistor amps will be available early 2012. The S-2 is a
stereo amp with 10 WPC will list for $5000. The S-1 monoblocks
are 10 WPC with control knob and meter for a list price of
$10,000 a pair.

What’s the difference
between First Watt and Pass Labs? That’s a common
question at Reno Hi-Fi. First Watt produces “Limited Edition
Wonders from Nelson Pass’ Kitchen Table.” Well, okay, actually
the products are from Nelson’s private (and extensive) personal
laboratory. Starting in 2004, under the First Watt brand
name, Nelson Pass has been personally designing, and for the
most part he’s been personally building, beautiful low-wattage
amplifiers, each of which has a different and unusual theory of
operation. First Watt is not the same company as Pass Labs, but
First Watt is owned by Nelson Pass through his other company,
General Amplifier.
